Seems a lot of Ganking is starting to go on again. Not sure of the exact locations but I'm following the chatter. Gallente and caldari forge regions are my guess. It started when someone noticed that with the summer trit price drop, you could build and blow up a battleship for about 8 million after insurance. The original plan was just to self destruct battleships and chew up excess minerals in the market to drive the price back up. But, there were already people making a living at ganking mackinaws. That plan was simple also. Sell the ice upgrades2's, find the purchasers location with a locator agent and then swoop in and take back the upgrades by force. Well, then the bright idea was conceived, since the ice price had started to rise, that ganking hulks with battleships would chew up twice the minerals and the drops would pay for guns and any difference in insurance. So now we have higher prices but only we miners are paying the price.
The regular seasonal drop goes on till august, It might pay to hoard your minerals till fall. Already the industrialists are gathering others into this scheme in hopes of ganking frieghters. Before that happens though, they are already feeling the pinch of higher prices themselves, i noticed trit is up but Jita regional mex is doing a spike. Its a big component of battleships.
A couple things of note also, these ganks work best in .5 and .6 because of concord response times. about 15 seconds. The volleys from the battleships take out a Hulk in one and a half volleys. Volleys are about 6 seconds and usually over 5k each. Not enough time to align and warp out even if your at the controls. The gisti boosters are of no use and are just extra loot.
I personally am consider a temporary move to covetor and t1 stuff. Can't stand to lose ships
