Q: What can I do to maximize my mining yield?

A: TinyMiner is designed from the start to maximize your mining yield, however there are a few things you can do yourself:
When bookmarking asteroid belts make sure to have as many asteroids as possible within mining range. Also if your system has especially long asteroid belts you can set a bookmark at each end of asteroid belts.
If you have more than one computer make sure to form a fleet between all your pilots in order to benefit from leadership skills like mining foreman.
Most time is lost warping back and forth between station and asteroid belts, so it helps a lot having a large cargohold on your ship in order to carry as much ore as possible. Try to equip the best cargohold expanders and rigs you can find.
You can also tweak the interval to reset lasers and the number of mining cycles according to the cargohold capacity of your ship.

Don't forget the implants also if you want to spend the money...

Is there a calculator for figuring out the amount of cycles and the length of cycles that are most efficient? While I know I can figure it out a calculator would be nice for getting set up with a new ship .

Some suggestions for yield maximization that I have found. Following a video on power mining from youtube, the guy was doing 30 seconds (or roughtly 1/4 cycles) on his hulks. So I decided to shoot for 1/2 cycles. I calculated this out and I seem to pull more yeild this way, and more imporantly, not waste full cycles on the dead roids, which I seem to find more in my TZ since they are already 1/2 mined out.

I did this was 4 toons about 10 days ago and I was able to strip and entire virgin belt over by in northern Forge in about 4 hours. Overall, it wasn't anything too special, but about 600k m3 (these miners aren't perfect, so with better skills, and T2 equirepment, they would have done more).

So right now I'm doing 12 cycles of 70 seconds, which fills the cargo hold to about 95% before returning to station. Watching the action, I've seen the cycle finish on several dead roids, so I still seem to be coming out ahead. Now, it's actually longer than 70 seconds as it seems TM takes a couple extra seconds to switch everything around, so you get a little more than 50% yeild, so you will need to run a couple cycles to see exactly how much you get per cycle and adjust accordingly.

Otherwise, 1 entire belt, 4 hours, with 4 more episodes of Andromeda watched on the other monitor. Yay.
