New idea to convince people your not a bot (DONE)

Post by Raddpuppy »

I was just curious if it would be possible for TM to send an email or text message everytime you recieved an ingame PM, along with this allow you to enter a message to respond that way if a GM contacted you, you could actually have a convo back with them. This would actually make it so you couldnt be caught as long as you have a smart phone and a cell signal. I'm not sure if this is possible, let me know what ya think.

Yes it would be possible to send an email if you get a message in game but I'm not sure how useful would that be. Most people are mining when they are asleep or otherwise away from their computers so the best action is to quit the game and simulate a disconnection.

Actually I think this is very good idea, and it would be very useful for me. Then I can be in the living room or out in the yard and my phone gets an email when I get convoed. I can just go in and respond to the chat request and then go back out continuing whatever I was doing.

I also second this idea. This could be useful for those who are readily able to access their machines from work via remote connection (LogMeIn or Windows Remote Desktop). The only time I macro-mine is when I'm at work for 8 hours and TinyMiner is running on my home PC.

I don't think it would hurt to add an option.

I third this idea! Even though this is old I agree with this! I normally run TM and use PhoneMyPC from my Droid Razr to monitor my chat window (and to make sure everything is going smoothly) this would make it much easier on people with iPhones and Android phones! And from work computers! Another thought is you can also have TM send you a text message through email so actually everyone would benefit from a feature like this.

I 4th the idea! :) Oh Yah +1. Would be perfect for me like if i was working on my car and my wife got the email and tells me to "get inside quick, some guy is trying to convo you on EVE"

Seriously great idea for real.

All right, this option will be implemented in the next TM version!

Just to make sure everyone understands, this is NOT an option that will enable you to mine 24/7 because it can still get you in trouble if you exaggerate your mining activities even if you are able to "chat" at all times! So, it's more of a "placebo" option to keep everyone happier! (/disclaimer)

This feature has now been implemented in the latest TinyMiner version v5.60! If you set up your email options correctly (don't forget to use the Test button to make sure) then TinyMiner will send you an email as soon as a monitored keyword is found in local chat or whenever you receive a private message.

I have to give credit where credit is due.

The TM team (whether it be one person or many) does an excellent job and satisfying requests of the users. In this post alone, several persons (not thousands) wanted a feature that TM recommended is not terribly useful, which I agree with. However, they implemented it anyway as the request of the users/customers.

Rarely do I see that level of user driven features implemented so easily. I initially was not a big believer in TM's support and product a couple years ago. However, I have had my "come to Jesus moment" and have seen the light.

Now if I can get this level of support from Microsoft...... that will never happen......

as an MS employee, LOL. you're right, it will never happen.

but then again TM has like what? max 10k customers? MS has literally a billion+. for example, the Xbox One sold over 1 million units, meaning over 1 million customers, in less than 24 hours. comparing the ability of a small business to provide personal service to a relatively miniscule number of customers to a company's ability to provide personal service to so many customers that it's swimming in conflicting complaints by people who haven't the slightest clue what they're doing and complain about things that are, 90%+ of the time, THEIR FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE and typically due to ignorance and, in some cases, blatant stupidity, is almost laughable.
