Slow Mouse - FIXED!

Hey I recall a thread around here about a slow mouse? did you move/delete that thread :(

Today I had a same/similar problem...

I installed the app on new laptop Fujitsu t4215

# Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5600 (1.83GHz)
# 2MB of L2 Cache
# 667MHz FSB
2MB RAM

The mouse is painfully slow to move across the screen to the degree that my relock cycles instead of taking the 40 seconds I mentioned yesterday in another thread, now take 3 minutes?

what was the "fix" or was there one?

What OS is on that laptop?

I'm running it fine on a pretty gutless new lappy but, as it's using Vista, i have to turn off UAC and run the macro as admin for it to work properly.

Something to do with Vista interfering with automatic mouse movements, apparently.

User Account Control...it's only on Vista though, so that's not your problem sadly. :(

I have absolutely no idea why the mouse cursor may be slow on some computers. The version 1.30 of TinyMiner has configurable mouse speed. If it's still slow even with no delays at all then probably your operating system doesn't allocate enough resources to background applications. There is an option to adjust performance for background services in My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Advanced.
Alternatively you could try to increase the priority of the TinyMiner process in the Windows Task Manager (press Ctrl Alt Del and then at Processes locate TinyMiner, right click on it and select Set Priority). If that works for you please post back here. Good Luck.

I'll try monkeying around with the performance settings...and DL the new version to that laptop....BTW the new version is awesome on my other PCs!!!

Haven't seen it work around a the "roid stuck" issue but I'll trust you..

Great work!!!

i did a reinstall on 1 of my machines today put win xp32 on and nothing else but eve and tiny miner, at first the mouse speed was the same so set priority for tinyminer to above normal and changed the adjust performance to background services and the mouse speed is a lot faster but only about half the speed of my main system.

My 2 cents

I think it is faster on computers with separate video cards and slower on computers with built in video on the motherboard.

the other thing i've noticed is, its slow on all my single core pc's but dual core pc's the mouse is fine.

Pentium 4 very slow

I tried out the macro on a Pentium 4 with 1GB RAM and a NVidia GeForce FX 5200 and it was so slow. I had to wait 20 mins to even close the Tiny Miner because it took over the mouse and I couldn't do anything.

One thing that would be nice is a quick way to exit the macro. Perhaps a Ctrl-X or something like that.

I hope you can fix this slow mouse issue because not having it run on P4 systems is going to limit the amount of people who can use it. I have a Core 2 Duo, but when I am working I like to have my P4 do some mining. The Core 2 mouse moves exceptionally fast.

There is a quick way to exit the macro. Even if it has control of the mouse there still is the keyboard, isn't it? Just ALT-TAB until TinyMiner has the focus and then press Escape. In v1.70 I have added a generic HotKey to quit TinyMiner when it has control of the mouse: CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE.
The slow mouse issue cannot be fixed since it is not a programming bug. However most people have found a solution that works for them:

Step 1: Adjust performance for background processes
Step 2: Set the priority of TinyMiner to Real Time

In my post above I explained how to do both these steps in case you don't know. Good Luck!

In v1.70 I have added code so that the mouse moves a lot faster than before especially on slower computers. You can use the Mouse Speed setting in TinyMiner to adjust it to your liking.

In version v1.90 I have added an Insta-Mouse option especially for the few users with slower computers or who experience a general slow mouse speed. This won't affect the main majority of users and shouldn't be used if your mouse speed is already very good.
