0.0 Mining

Post by Shtef »

Im interested to get my tiny out into nullsec.

How many of you use tiny in 0.0?
Do you mine ice or abc or m?
How do you go about it with the friendly/enemy alliances/rats/roaming gangs and fleets?
What type of isk do you make?
Does tinyminers local sensor work well?
Have you lost any ships yet?

Thanks :)

From experience, Macros in 0.0 are questionable at best, as is everything out there.

A lot of folks, even blues, see a hulk/mak and see "Pew Pew" so I'd not suggest it unless you're under fairly heavy watch.

Just my thought on the matter.

i have used TM in null sec a lot mainly for ice minning and even the scanner worked great for me
just aslong as ure skills are good enough to tank the rats but with dominion i would suggest to scan out hidden belts though and leave the normal belts alone so u have a bit longer to align and warp to station,
also on another not setting ure bm is a bit triky as the nature of the lay out of the hidden belts u need to plant good bm around it as there as if ccp just pike dup a load of roks and thrown them there lol
but with everything logistics is the pain u can mine abc m ore all day long but unless u can get it bk to sell in empire u wont make profit lol

@ dirtydebbs

I don't know if anyone else understood what you wrote, perhaps I'm not down with all the lingo quite yet.

What's a BM?

What's ABC m ore?

BK?

A BM is a bookmark. ABC M are the most valuable types or ore, namely Arkonor, Bistot, Crokite and Mercoxit. You can make hundreds of millions per day mining those and they are commonly found in gravimetric sites spawning in 0.0 space including wormholes. As for "bk" I assume he meant "back" as in selling the refined ore back in empire space where it fetches a handsome price.

Thanks for that. :)
As of right now I'm staying in 0.4 for mining because as you can tell, I'm not really all that literate at all of the mining lingo yet. I bet if I just lurk around on the actual EVE forums and here a bit more I might pick some things up. Veldspar mining is pretty much all I'm doing right now - once I've been playing EVE for more than a couple of months I'll start roaming into 0.0 space. I've been wanting to for a while.

If all ur Mineing is Veldspar move out to 0.4 back into the safty off high sec becasue its not worth risking ur ship for veld down in low sec space

I have a hulk now and am protected by 4 drones and TM is constantly monitoring my shields so I'm not really all that worried. :) Plus, in 0.4 there are hardly any other people so I don't have to worry about being reported.

Thinking about taking my bot out to 0.0. What drones do guys use (light or meds) and how can i be sure i don't get warped scram? I know my drones will kill those frigs but after they do kill them and agress on the BS's will they return in time before i warp?

Drones are not a good idea for 0.0 mining. They will get chewed up fast. Your best bet is to perma tank your hulk with a Pithi B-Type Small Shield Booster and specific hardeners for your local type of rats. That has worked well for me in the past although now I prefer wormhole mining a lot more.

Is this possible? I don't think a hulk can tank much that sort of damage from a dual BS spawn. What sort of fits do people use? Anyone have any experience on this?

I have merged your topic with this one as this subject has already been discussed as you can see from the posts above as well as from the following threads: http://www.tinyminer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1611 and http://www.tinyminer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10.

For the Miners in 0.0

Post by Harvestrer »

Recently I joined a Industrial renter corp in 0.0

Corp hold a -0.6 space with Guristas rats

I have tryed a Mackinaw setup but i cannot tank when there are double BS rats

-0.0 miner-
Capacitor Power Relay II
Expanded Cargohold II
Mining Laser Upgrade I

Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Thermic Dissipation Field II
Dread Guristas Kinetic Deflection Field
Kinetic Deflection Field II

Modulated Strip Miner II,Veldspar Mining Crystal I
Modulated Strip Miner II,Veldspar Mining Crystal I

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

I have 73 thermal and 89 Kinetic resist with 20k EHP, Cap stable at 52%

question is:
1) Can Tinyminer be used in 0.0? (improve my setup?)
2) Sometimes rats jam me, how to deal with that?

Thx and waiting for responses

with null space you face 2 problems...pirates and bigger npcs

while drones can help defend you in a mack they're not gonna last that long against the higher hp rats

i tried using tmp in lowsec and it ended in failure as a result of a pirate gang so if you have protection give it a try, otherwise i wouldn't bother unless you have really short cycles

It's been a while but I remember being able to tank the null sec guristas rats just fine. You do need to have maxed engineering skills though. I was using the Pithi B-Type Small Shield Booster.

Also in your setup the Expanded Cargohold doesn't help anymore since it doesn't affect the Ore Hold so you might as well replace it with a Damage Control. The Capacitor Power Relay is not good either since it decreases the shield boosting. Try to replace it with a Power Diagnostics or even Capacitor Control Circuit rigs although I would use the rigs for more racial resists...

You definitely won't have enough capacitor for Modulated Strip Miners so you should settle for regular tech 1 Strip Mining Lasers and mine Arkonor, not Veldspar!

Tiny miner for 0.0 ?

Post by unemployed »

I have not used tiny miner in several months. I want to use it for mining in 0.0 Sansha space

Can it monitor local? And can anyone recommend a Mackinaw fit for 0.0 Sanshas?

To minimize your cost. I would recommend either a procurer or a skiff for 0.0 mining. The yield is not all that much lower than a mackinaw and you get that peace of mind knowing that your tanked. I have even walked in on a hound trying to gank one of my skiffs and was able to fight him off LOL.

I don't know much about sanshas rats but really all you need is a shield booster, some damage type specific hardeners, and make the rest of the stuff capacitor rigs and fittings.

Dump the extenders, they are for PVP not PVE. Put Anti=Kinetic and Anti=Thermal Screen Reinforcers in their place. They will increase your sig radiius, but the increased damage resist more than makes up for it. also switch your shield booster out for the pith B small. your shields will thank you
