Yo,
So im just interested where every1 makes there mining spot?
ie for me, (and I don't know if this is best, just wot iv been doing)
warp to belt... let say nice half shape, i will make 2 points per belt, id fly over to one side... about 5-10km from the last roid, and then again on the other side.
this is so when orbiting the roids and TM changes to the next, I will work my way into the center.
I didn't know if people do this, or make 1 point per belt, ie in the middle... or maybe 3-4 per belt (depending on size ofc!)
anyone got thoughts?
what do you mine.
what do you mine.
Ice or ore?
what kind?
highsec or low?
atm, personly mining highsec ores, vald, scor, plag, omber....
but im thinkin about trying ice, never mined it my self, didn't know if theres more isk in it per hour??
highsec, say 0.7.
any1 got any input or advice?

Re: what do you mine.
For the most safety, which would be even safer if VG let us use both the local and directional scanner, is to place a few BM's on the outside of the belt, the side opposite the warp in. A potential aggressor would have to fly a ways to get within range of you. If you have the directional scanner set to trigger warping out it would give you more time as well. Set up a few BM's so you can get almost all the belt within your range for each belt you wish to mine. I typically set my BM's so the end roid is at my extreme range and try to keep my ship 4-5km from the closest roids next to me. Most belts you can get almost all the roids in range with 2-3 BM's. this way.
With this setup turn off orbiting and do not use the warp from 200km feature. These are two HUGE red flags screaming that you are using a bot to mine. If you warp in, mine some then warp away it is practically impossible unless you watch the lasers reset to tell you are using TM. I can tell easily so I am sure others can as well. A human miner resets their lasers a lot faster than TM does.
Ice is not as much isk per hour as ore. There are resources that you can use to determine which ore is the most valuable in your region based on m3/hour. Typically Scordite, Pyroxeres and Kernite are the most valuable in hisec, Hemorphite and Hedbergite are the most valuble in low/nulsec. Dark Glitter can be worth more in nulsec, but the other ice types are not normally as valuble as even the hisec ores.
