Feature Request - Modify Settings and Profile Names

I have found myself wanting to tweak settings during a run. Many times in a new system I find that everything might be right except for a few things. Or maybe I have decided to change what time the last run will be. There are many examples but for instance...

- The belt i am in might be better served by NOT orbiting.
- I might be close at hand and have TM set to alert me when local hits keywords, but then I might have to leave and it would be cool to click and change to quit eve.
(I love this one) - I get asked in local if I want an orca bonus. If I accept I will need to modify my cycle times. It would be nice to do so on the fly.

Profile names
is there a way for you to work around the character restrictions? Overall this is insignificant to be sure, but no spaces, 15 char restriction AND alpha-numeric only seems a bit much.
