Empire POS setup/config questions

Post by mutt »

so, I was looking at setting up a POS in empire space. primarily to do research and invention...
but while its there, I figured it would be a GREAT thing to be a remote base for mining....

with boosting, TM+ will mine somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 hulk loads per day per miner in local space... yeah SERIOUS ISK...

its been a while since I accessed a POS, and never as A CEO, and I have never used TM+ with a POS...

I had hoped to be able to mine all week, and at the end of the week, freighter my ores to the nearest station

then I did a little math and I may have run into a snag in my grand plan... STORAGE

1) no refining arrays in empire space, so I have to haul the ore to the nearest station

2) a corp hangar array says hit has 1.4M m3 storage which is coincidentally about right for a single miner (if Ive got my math straight)... and roughly 2 freigher loads... ugh...

3) then I thought of compression... nope that requires a Rorqual... and you cant bring a Rorqual into empire...

4) Silos, General Storage, and Coupling Arrays.... I admit, I know nothing about these, might is be THIS my ticket out of this problem?

is there something I am missing?

is the storage listed in Corp Hanger array for the entire structure, per corp member, or are my numbers wrong?

do I need a separate Hangar for each miner? can I even anchor multiple Corp Hangars at a single Tower?
. can TM+ doing POS storage distinguish between multiple Corp Hangars at a Tower?
. if I go this way, am I going to have to empty each Corp Hangar each day....
. OMG, I thought mining barges were slow... then I flew a freighter... holy crap 0.75AU/S....
. can you fit Jump Gates to Towers in empire space?

from my understanding, TM unloading at POS hangar requires a bookmark for the hangar to warp to. Therefore i dont see a problem using more than 1 POS hangar, 1 for each toon.
Storage is for the whole structure, just like corp hangars at capships/orca.

You can always fit more if you have a big POS and move stuff between them with another char.

Jump gates is not allowed in Empire space.

Silos are used for reactions and provide very little storage, same does general storage and coupling arrays, so dont use them.

You can use a Large Ship Assembly Array for storage purposes. It has 18.5 mil m3 of storage.

Hm never realised that.

Would be great for a POS that I have further on..
There is no station there so I keep having to bring fuel to another system with freighter and then jump back and forth.

Now I can just scout > move freighter > jump to pos > unload to corp hangar (or directly into ship array?).

Thanks neway

and so the plan crystallizes....

POS anchoring... heard this from somebody else, just want to verify
I dont have the standing to anchor in empire space, and am probably not going to get it.... so, presuming all this works, I'm going to buy a premade... with the standing I need.... to anchor what I want, wherever I want (within the standing of the corp I buy)

the guy I've been talking to, says that if the CEO Toon in the corp has NO standing (not very little, but absolute zero) and hes the ONLY toon in the corp, that standing will not decay over time... true?

here's my thought.... and some other questions
buy the corp... (300M at this point in time) create a nice shiny new ALT, make him/it CEO, anchor whatever I want, whenever I want it

put all my miners/boosters in another corp.... and form an alliance between the two corps... this has the added advantage of IF somebody decides to WarDec one of the corps, wardec-ing a corp in an alliance is substantially more expensive...

and here is the fly in the ointment....
1) I am assuming TM can dump ore directly into the Large Ship Assembly Array, and that I wont have to have the toons individually move their ore once at the POS from a Corp Hangar Array to the Assembly Array.... BRILLIANT idea btw... 18M m3 is 1000+ hulk runs!!! that aught to last me a day or 2... lol
2) Can TM+ handle it if the POS (and all structures associated with that POS) belong to an allied corp? (I seem to remember something about passwords with allied corps POSes)

too grand a plan?

The Large Ship Assembly Array should have the same icons as a Corporate Hangar Array or at least the Open and Keep at Range icons are in the same place so it should work just fine. Or you could always anchor the Ship Array right next to the Hangar Array and then simply drag and drop from one another. However only the characters belonging to the corporation owning the POS will be able to open the structures. Alliance members are not allowed to interact with POS structures from another corp.

That being said I prefer my POS setup in a class 1 wormhole. There's no standings hassle to worry about, no hourly charter taxes, and there's always plenty of fresh Arkonor, Bistot and Crokite to your heart's content. With the "WH mining /onboard scanner monitor" option I can always detect the stray wannabe pirate gankers so I'm good as far as that goes.

Right now you can only store roid in corp hangar. And I can confirm tinyminer works very smoothly with them.

You can also store ore in a Ship Assembly Array perfectly fine, I've just tried it and it works great.

Hope you don't mind me necro'ing this thread.

I've thought about looking for a CL1 Wormhole and setting up a pos and such for access to juicy rocks and hopefully less traffic.

Any suggestions on POS setup, and ideal type of CL wormhole to optimize around TM mining?

Not at all, that's what the threads are here for, so that anyone can chime in with useful information (as long as it hasn't been repeated before in other threads  ). There is a rather comprehensive thread about setting up a POS inside a wormhole in the TinyMinerPlus section of the forum. Here is the link: http://www.power-gamers.net/forum/viewt ... f=6&t=1415. Hope this helps.
