Feature Request: The Advanced Trade Route Runner

Post by nivre4 »

Hey VG, I think that this would be an AWESOME feature for TinyMiner: The Advanced Trade Route Runner 8)

I'm the kind of guy that loves to save as much money as he can when it comes to purchasing stuff on the market, so I tend to buy items that are cheaper, but not necessarily too close to me. Generally what I do right now to pick up all of my purchased goods, use the current trade route runner and my Iteron to go back and forth from my main station to the station where the items were sold.

The Dilemma: Well since I usually purchase a bunch of stuff all over the place, it's a tedious task to set up TinyMiner to go from main station A to pick up station B and have to delete bookmark B and then bookmark station C and so on so forth until I've picked up all of my goods.

The Solution: The Advanced Trade Route Runner, which would be a major upgrade to the current trade route runner.

How it works: So say the user purchases items in station B, C, and D, and wants to bring them all to station A. If he used the current route runner, he'd have to use the steps I mentioned in "The Dilemma." But using the Advanced Trade Route Runner, he'd only have to bookmark all 4 stations and put them in a folder like such:

"Trade Route Runner Folder"
Pickup 1 (B)
Pickup 2 (C)
Pickup 3 (D)
Return (A)

Then in the TinyMiner interface, the user would have to specify how many destinations there are (including the return station), which is 4, and how many jumps there are in between "current location-B, "B-C", "C-D", and then "D-A". For example:

(Imagine this is the Tiny Miner interface):

How Many Destinations(Include returning destination): (Let's use the previous example) 4
Jumps from current location to D1 (destination 1): 3
Jumps from D1 to D2: 6
Jumps from D2 to D3: 1
Jumps from D3 to D4 (D4 being the return station because it is the last of the destinations as specified in the "How Many Destinations"): 8

And then the standard "Move items one by one" or "Select and Move All" features (As well as the "Pick up Cargo from Destinations)

And when using this, the user must have everything set up correctly in terms of EVE window placement, Destination Folder placement, and an Overview exclusive to Stargates.

Voila! And now The Advanced Trade Route Runner has been conceptualized! I really hope that I could see this feature being implemented with TinyMiner soon someday! :)

Now I don't mean to get carried away here but I also have another cool feature that would go along well with this: Giving TinyMiner the ability to be able to tell when a ship's cargo is full so if the user made a slight miscalculation in their mathematics while setting up their Advanced Trade Route Runner, TinyMiner will fly the full cargo'ed ship back to the return station and then fly back to the last station it was at and then resume from there.

VG, please let me know what you think about this idea, I'm really pumped about it!

The current TinyMiner Warp to Zero Hauler already knows if it picked up all the items or if there are some more left to transport during the next run so this feature is covered. Also your idea of multiple pickups is not new and I will probably implement it in a future version.

It is somewhat difficult for the user to calculate how many jumps are between remote stations so the program might work a bit differently such as always transporting stuff back to the destination station: B-A, then C-A, then D-A, etc. It might take slightly longer to do this but it won't encounter any cargo problems along the way and since it's all automated you could relax while it's being done.

Oh, okay, thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

Also, regarding the "difficulty" of figuring out the distances between remote stations: (I'm not sure how the programming is set up so what I am going to say may not work but...) Why not just take out the "How Many Gate Jumps"? Isn't it obvious that if TinyMiner sees a yellow stargate icon as opposed to a white stargate icon then it should work based off of that as opposed to the value set for how many jumps were supposed to have occured?

It is necessary to know how may jumps are to the destination because for the last gate in the jump sequence there is no "Add gate as the first waypoint" option in the right-click menu and the program would click the wrong menu option thus breaking the process. You need to understand how waypoints and autopilot work in EVE first.

Ah, true, I forgot about that. My apologies.

Despite that, I think it is pretty simple to figure out how many jumps there are between multiple stations. Let's assume someone already has 4 stations bookmarked in a folder, and that person is currently in the "Return" station.

So, the person then clicks on his first pick up and sets the destination, say it's 6 jumps.

Then the person clicks on the second pick up and adds it as a way point, and then the total number of jumps increases to 9, meaning that there are three jumps in between the first and second pick up.

Then he clicks on the third pick up and adds way point and so on so forth. I honestly don't think people should have a problem with a concept this simple.
