GREETINGS ALL!
I am new full version user. LOVE IT. First 25 run mining op completed 30M pocketed on Veldspar.
But sure seems like it took long time to complete 25 runs (9 hours or 21.6 mins per run).
I am using HULK configured as follows:
High: 3x T1 (t2 without crystals is only 724.5m3 vs t1 @ 1086.75m3)
Mid: 2x M51 Iterative Shield Recharges, 1x Additional Thermal Barrier, 1x Ancillary Ballistic Screen
Low: 2x T2 Cargo Expanders
Drones: Various to = max Drone capacity
Total Cargo Hold 13,005m3
Will get T1 Cargo Optimizers soon to increase hold.
Given 13,005m3 and that I am mining JUST Veld roids that tend to be 45,000m3-95,000m3 in size I figured that I could run my lasers for 3 cycles per run @ 233s before resetting. (1 cycle of 180s + 53s of a second cycle). Doing this I would optimize cargo hold capacity and actually averaged 12889.4m3 (115.6m3 short of max cargo space) over 25 runs.
Given:
90s for Warp time (some belts are far from station)
5s for laser locks (for those laggy times)
and 233s per cycle
I calculate a run should take:
90s+ (5sx3 cycles) + (233sx3 cycles) = 804s per run = 13.4mins
Add some docking time and unloading time say 1m 30s roughly, gives me 15m 54s so say 16m.
In 9 hours I should average 5 breaks of 2-8m (avg 5m) which would be 25m of break time (on average) or 1m additional per run. Thus my runs should take approx 17m.
As it stands for my first 25 run cycle each run lasted 21m 36s or 4m 36s longer than it should which represents 27% wasted time.
What I am wondering is how can I decrease this wasted time while still maximizing cargo hold capacity?

PS I am not complaining about the 30M I made while I slept, just wanting to get highest efficiency from system. (27% = another 8M which over the long term really adds up: 80M over 250 runs 10 sessions, 800m over 2500 runs 100 sessions (roughly 3 months) extra adds up to being enough to pay for a couple of 90d GTCs and keeping the other ISK for ships and PvP)
Optimizing Configurations
Timing
First, I know I can do faster than the program. The question is why is there such a large discrepency between calculated time and actual time.
Second, to prove that I can do it faster here is sequence of events for me controlling.
Undock
Warp to Asteroid Belt (no delay after warping for scanning and selecting roids)
Scan belt for largest roids near me (i.e. within Laser Range)
Target largest roids
Start lasers
Launch Drones
<wait...watch cargo hold...when full... typically 3 cycles + a little 9m 10s>
Drones-> Return to Bay
Select Station->click DOCK
When docked unload to ITEMS hanger
12m 15s vs. Calculated time of 17m and actual time of 21+m
This is because I do not have the "built-in" delays that the program has, but I have taken those into account for comparing the calculated time to the actual time.
Again, more interested in efficiency of program compared to programs Calculated time vs. Actual not vs. me...
Again, I know I can go faster that is not the issue.

Timing
Well I timed several cycles last night.
They varied from 18min to 22min. The 22min cycles are when the ship takes longer to warp to belt than 90s. This happened twice. It tried to lock a roid...could not because it was in warp, attempted a second time as it was coming out of warp and could not so it went to warp to a second belt.
It seems that several of the belts in the system I am in are pretty distant for HULK. Will need to try some different systems with belts closer to station.
Other reasons were catches on roids...trying to get free to warp out took anywhere from 1 - 2 extra minutes.
Will let y'all know more as I figure it out.

Efficiency
Ok moved to a different system and setup bookmarks at various locations to Asteroid Belts that were close i.e. < 6AU from station.
Calculated time was 17m 11s Average time was 18m 35s for 5 runs.
Made some modifications:
Took out a Expanded Cargo II and replaced with Mining laser upgrade ii. 3 cycles at 163s fills the cargo hold using T1 strips + the MLU II. Since this is just slightly less than a single cycle figured would be ok, vs. resetting lasers every 90 seconds or so. Also set to not orbit roids. In .9 space so no drone launching.
Calculated time is now 12m even (30s undocking + 78s warping + 163s x 3 cycles + 15s targeting delay + 78s warping + 30s docking = 720s/60 = 12m)
10 runs took 2 hours 11m or 9% longer than calculated time. Better than the 27% waste with the other factors going on previously.
Averaged 4% less than max cargo hold also, so not wasting time and jettison excess ores.
Guess I am now ready to start moving toward TinyMinerPLUS and mining with both accounts.
Will see how that works.
Take care

As far as I can tell, your setting are pretty close. By my calculations, this is what I have for you:
3 lasers, 180 sec cycle, 1086.75m3 yield, 13085m3 cargo
Total yield per cycle is 3260m3
Yield/Minute is 1080m3
Yield/second is 18m3
Time to Fill cargo is 723 seconds
1 Cycle @723 sec (723/1)
2 Cycles @ 362 sec (723/2)
3 Cycles @ 241 sec (723/3)
Etc...
I always add a second or two to my cycle times to ensure my cargo is actually full. As I said, seems like you're in the ballpark. Have you checked other settings. To speed my runs up a little I set the mouse to "Fastest mouse speed!" to speed up the targeting and starting of my lasers.
